Happy Lupus Awareness Day!....In honor of my grandmother and Aunt who are currently living with this disease everyday. I have decided to post a blog about this disease that affects more than 5 million people worldwide most of them being women of Asian or African American decent . Still though there is no barrier for gender, age, or race for the autoimmune disease they call Lupus. I'm Posting this blog in hopes that it calls attention to this under- recognized devastating disease! For those of you who are not familiar with this disease. It is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes the immune system, that normally protects the body from invaders such as; Bacteria, viruses, the common cold to become confused and not able to distinguish between our bodies own tissues and invaders. So in short the immune system attacks itself. People that become diagnosed with Lupus can have a long list of health issues from strokes, heart attacks, inflammation of the joints and disfiguring rashes. Many people tend to live with Lupus and don't even know it because of the symptoms it has in common with so many other illnesses. Why there has not been A little more effort in the past decades to find a cause and cure for this debilitating disease is beyond me. Please forgive me if the following offends anyone, to offend is not my intention but I can't help to beg the question. Is our government institution that we trust so well disseminating false information and really not looking out for the welfare of the people? Is something like this for the benefit of the pharmaceutical companies? I mean questions like that may upset some people but upsetting or not. The thought that millions of people have suffered and lost they're lives for the benefit of the currency circulation. Disgusts and pains me! It's an honest question that deserves an honest answer! Either way I believe that something needs to be done. For the sake of the people that have fallen victims to this illness and all other illnesses that seem to have some underlining cure out there somewhere(possibly hidden in plain sight)...Cancer :? On a happier note the future for the cure of Lupus is looking a lot better and brighter! I am happy to say they are noticing the powerful impact that is bringing thousands of millions of people together driven by such strong hope all for one end goal and result. Multiple clinical trials being done on Lupus around the world are giving us hope for potential ground breaking therapies. The hope and abundance that this is giving millions of people and patients that their condition is being recognized and is not going unnoticed.
